Apple in a $2.7 billion deal with LG to produce OLED displays for future iPhones
So far an OLED display is one of the exclusive features that are used in smartphones, though Apple has yet to feature one on its iPhones while others have. However, recently according to a report out from Korea, Apple is taking a huge step to invest a giant amount of $2.7 billion in LG to produce OLED display for its next iPhones which we may see in next year’s iPhone and the following ones.
LG and Samsung
Besides that, an anonymous source from LG claimed Apple has made a payment in advance. LG seems to be getting ready to build a new OLED production line aiming to produce this exclusive screen for Apple’s iPhones. On the other hand, the report also says that right now two companies have a deal with Apple, the other partner being Samsung. It is to produce the same display for its coming smartphone, probably called iPhone 8, which is expected to be unveiled this year with the cost of over $1000.
Apple’s OLED display deal with two individual companies would give this American company an extra advantage over others in getting OLED displays in its store in order to make a huge production of iPhones.
